  • Hey, I'm Kate Pingry - a passionate lover of life and the founder of this project. With my five years experience as a registered travel nurse, I've come to understand that every moment holds connection to the world around you.

As someone who deeply cares about people, the nursing profession affects my mental health. Every work day involves needing to put my emotions aside and create a safe space for patients to heal through their worst days.

The mental burden of my job makes me realize how important it is to decompress from the day. I observe my colleagues and friends also search for ways to de-stress with little long term success.

My patients can also become stuck with the same stressful energy as they try to deal with things out of their control.

We all carry a burden of negative experiences that linger within us. This often makes us so uncomfortable in our own bodies that all we want to do is numb the feeling. Subconsciously, we fall into a numbing routine without acknowledging the deep-seeded emotions so they can become released.

A great way to move past emotional junk is to punch it head-on. That’s why I created this punch pillow project as a healing wellness experience. Whether it’s to cuddle, punch, or cry, I go to my punch pillow as a practical tool and visual reminder that it's necessary to set emotions free. It’s also an ancient healing practice called somatic release.

If you need an easy way to quickly release stress, check out the variety of available pillow colors to find the perfect option for your journey.

All your other pillows are now safe because you have this pillow to let your emotions out freely. Flip the pillow as needed to show what you're feeling. There's a smile on front for happy moments, and a frown on back for sad moments.

It can be used as an educational tool for communication/emotions in children, as a visual reminder to check in with yourself, or a wellness tool to release emotional energy from the body.

Come rain or coffee spills, these pillows stay fresh, clean, and stain-free. Soft to the touch and perfect for that extra layer of protection from unwanted liquids and oils. • Ways to use this punch pillow for release:

    1. Cry into it

    2. Punch it

    3. Hug it tight to your chest

    4. Throw it

    5. Cuddle with it

    6. Sit on it as you meditate

    7. Use it as a reminder to journal, breathe, and drop into the needs of your body

Note: give yourself an allotted amount of time to just feel what you need to feel with no reserve on how that looks from the outside.

The word somatic is defined as relating to the body.

Subconsciously, our bodies store tension from each stressor we face in day. Over time our body creates a habit of this as a defense mechanism. Somatic healing involves cultivating awareness of these patterns and areas of tension. One way to practice this is by first doing a body scan.

    1. Elongate your spine by sitting tall.

    2. Relax your forehead

    3. Unclench your jaw

    4. Drop your tongue from the roof of your mouth

    5. Move your eyes from side to side

    6. Turn your head side to side

    7. Relax your stomach

    8. Take a deep breath in

    9. Slow exhale

    10. Feel the gravity pushing you into your seat

    11. Shake out your hands

    12. Put both hands on your heart

    13. Smile to yourself

As humans, we noteably have “feelings” about most things we experience. Feelings are made up of emotions and sensations. Naturally, these are felt in the body. These emotions and sensations are how we make sense of life on a primal level. When we endure a negative or stressful experience our bodies may store these emotions away in order to “fight” or survive in that given moment. This leaves us with the need to release it later on. If neglected, disease and nervous system dysfunction can accumulate such as; chronic pain, sleep issues, anxiety, GI issues, and more.
